Participate in a Ghanaian Naming Ceremony
Next, visitors take part in a sacred Ghanaian Naming Ceremony led by local elders and the queen mother. Known traditionally as “Outdooring” among the Akan people, this meaningful rite introduces you directly to the community and ancestral spirits. For context on this rich heritage, you can read more about Akan culture on Wikipedia
During the ceremony, elders bless participants through traditional prayers and libation pouring. Furthermore, you receive a traditional name based on the day of the week you were born. Local tailors fit guests in authentic Ghanaian cloth, while drummers and dancers celebrate your return home. As a result, every participant leaves with a laminated certificate of recognition and a profound sense of belonging.
Retrace Ancestral Steps at Assin Manso
Afterward, travelers visit the historical Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park. During the transatlantic slave trade, captives took their final bath in these waters before marchers forced them toward coastal castles. Today, visitors walk the same historic paths as their ancestors while paying homage at the memorial sites.
Explore Cape Coast Castle and Local History
Finally, tour participants explore Cape Coast Castle, a preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site. Local historians guide guests through the dungeons and the famous “Door of No Return.” In addition, visitors learn about the impacts of the historic trade route on West African nations. Throughout the journey, our professional driver provides smooth, air-conditioned transport back to Accra.
